Mass Wing Director of Aerospace Education Wins Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to adult member Maj. Leslie Kneipfer on earning the Air & Space Forces Association Massachusetts Teacher of the Year award. Maj. Kneipfer was recognized for her work as the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Massachusetts Wing Director of Aerospace Education and as a 7th-grade Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) teacher at Raynham Middle School.
When CAP created a “High-Altitude Balloon (HAB) Challenge” in 2021, Leslie mentored the team that took first place nationwide—out of more than 400 teams competing. The team comprised cadets from the Goddard Cadet and Bridgewater State Composite squadrons. She has continued to mentor HAB teams every year since, helping cadets learn principles of experimental design and test methods.
“Leslie is a great asset to CAP and the Massachusetts Wing,” said Massachusetts Wing Commander Col. Carleton Jones. “She is a tremendous mentor for our aviation education members and an inspiration to our cadets in exploring STEM education.”
